A good review of the Lytro camera.

MIT’s technology review magazine published a very positive review of the Lytro camera and technology this month. Of course they referenced ‘things to come’ a few times, but hey … that’s what is so interesting!

I mean I love the refocus thing - especially in two different aspects: (1) getting the focus exact in macro shots. I have a big problem doing this with normally shot macros - the bug’s neck is focused, but it’s eyes are oof. Well, no more! And (2), continuum shots, where refocussing along a path is the concept in the shot. This is unique to refocus shooting, and represents a wholly new concept in 4D photography.

Here is one:

How many seeds can you see clearly?

But look, I too am looking forward (very much!) to all-in-focus, perspective shift and especially anaglyphic 3D!!! C’mon Lytro - hurry up!!
